Extremely blessed

We received the results of David's genetic test today, and we found out that he is NOT a carrier for cystic fibrosis. This is such fantastic news and we are so thrilled!!

Unfortunately, he is a carrier for another disease: Alpha 1 antitrypsin deficiency which effects the liver and the lungs.  I have to get tested to see if I am a carrier for this now and therefore will be seeing a genetic counselor early December.

We are so blessed and I am so thankful that David is not a CF carrier.  What a wonderful piece of news for our Thanksgiving celebrations! :)

Happy turkey day!!!

  1. That's fantastic news! :) I think we're going to get Tim tested soon, too. About how long did it take you to get the results back?

  2. It was a simple blood test and took about 3 weeks (we got him EXTENSIVELY tested)! It wasn't bad at all. :)

  3. Such amazing news as far as no CF for your little one. One less thing to worry about. Is the condition David is a carrier for passed on like CF in that you would need to be a carrier too for baby to have the condition? If so I hope you are carrier free!!

  5. Thank you ladies!! I am so very thankful for this news, it's unbelievable!

Inhaling Hope, From what I have read about it, it seems to be the exact same as CF. I have to have the gene and then if I do, there's a 25% chance of having a child with the deficiency. I'm definitely hoping I'm carrier free!! :)
